James R. Westmoreland, 70, of Indianapolis, went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2019.

James attended grade-school at IPS 56 and high school at Arsenal Tech.

James sold Indiana Recorder newspapers, he worked at Nelson’s Grocery Store and Speedway Motel; finally retiring from AT&T.

James leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Sandra; son, Damon; brother, Byron Sr.; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Louetta; and his siblings, Lorene Peters, Walter C. (Bonnie) Westmoreland, Alberta Berryhill, Dorinea Brown, Allen L. (Mary Frances) Westmoreland.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 31 at Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 3731 Boulevard Place, Indianapolis. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Crown Hill Cemetery.
