Mary Lou Powers was born on March 13, 1924 to James and Gladys Gillette. She had her master’s degree in education, and was a school teacher in Lawrence Township for many years. She married Lloyd H. Powers, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Mary Susan Reynolds, Albert (Bud) Powers, and Johnna Powers, two sisters, three brothers, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held Friday, January 19 from 4-8pm, and a memorial service will be held at her church, Faith Presbyterian Church at 2:00 Saturday. In lieu of flowers, Mary Lou requested that donations be made to the Faith Presbyterian Church building fund, or the Salvation Army. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nashville, Indiana at a private ceremony in the future.
