Date Of Birth: May 12, 1953
Date Of Death: May 28, 2006

Richard Lee Bruce, Sr., 53 of Indianapolis, ironically passed away on Race Day, May 28, 2006. He was an avid Indy 500 fan. Rick was born on May 12, 1953 in Indianapolis. Rick and Christine were high school sweethearts that were together for 35 years and raised 2 amazing children. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era as a medic on the homefront. At the Eglin Air Force Base in Florida he helped many children; he was always great with children. He was a tremendous friend to all his family and friends with the most amazing sharp and clever sense of humor. He lit up the room and was the life of the party. He created great memories with his family when his children were school age, traveling to parks and museums. After his kids were grown his travels continued with his dear friends to California, Arizona, Florida, Washington, and so many places in between. He sold cards retail for years and continued work in auto wholesales with his company, Brickyard Imported Cars. In his free time he loved to do woodworking with his brother-in-law Greg Roll and riding bikes with his wife. He is survived by his wife Christine S. (Roll) Bruce, son Richard Lee Bruce Jr., daughter Autumne Bruce, father William E. Bruce, brothers William E. Bruce Jr. (wife Heidi), David S. Bruce (Karla) , and Kevin J. Bruce (Diana); sister Cynthia K. Richards (Joe), and several especially close nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Lois M. (Atwell) Bruce. Services will be held on Friday, June 2nd at 2:30 PM with visitation from Noon until the funeral at 2:30 at Harry Moore Family Mortuary, Allisonville Road Chapel. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memory Gardens.

Times like these are very tough to deal with for everyone. May the Lord help you though the hard days ahead. You’ll be in my thoughts and prayers and I’ll be asking the Lord to help you cope with Rick’s passing. I knew Rick through my employer, Ray, and thought he was a very upstanding gentleman. Take care and may Peace come to your family.

    Romans 8 26-30
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will. 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified

To the family of Ricky Bruce:
I pray for the day when your tears of sadness will turn to smiles of fond and loving memories. To my friend Ricky–your smile made a great day for all who passed your way. A good man in every sence of the word. You are in a place where there is nothing but love, care, and in the ’’Sweetest Arms’’ to be held in. No pain, no suffering, only love…you deserve the best. Rest in peace my friend. You will be missed…with the greatest of care and respect your friend , Bruce Tishler
