Clara Rose Herring was born on October 6, 1937, and departed this life on September 11, 2018.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lester and Novella (Herron) Woodley, her 2 sisters Olivia

Malone and Edith Barker, and husband Wade H. Herring, Jr. She is survived by her 2 children, Bruce

(Maria Dancy) and Rhonda Herring, 1 grandchild; Trishawnda Dancy, many nieces, nephews, and a host

of other relatives and friends.

Clara was baptized at an early age and confessed Christ as her savior as a member of Mt. Paran

Missionary Baptist Church. The final years of her life she was an avid member of New Horizons Church,

Under the leadership of Pastor Eric L. Wiggins, Sr.

She attended I P S #87 and Crispus Attucks High School, where she was an excellent student. In fact, she

Graduated from Attucks in 3 years at the age of 16, as class salutatorian. Upon graduating from high

School, Clara attended the University of Indianapolis, and earned a Bachelor’s degree in education.

Clara was joined in holy matrimony to Wade H. Herring, Jr. on December 23, 1960. To this union were

Born her 2 children, Bruce and Rhonda. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, working out jigsaw

Puzzles, and travelling. She used degree to return to her high school alma mater where taught for

Several years. She later transitioned her employment to (P N C) Merchant’s Bank, where she for 19

Years until her retirement. Not one to remain idle, after a brief period, she sent to work at Von Maur

Department store for the next 14 years.

Her warm smile, gentle caring nature, and willingness to lend a helping hand, will be truly missed.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, October 8th,2018 at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Rd. The family will greet friends from 9:30 until the time of service.
