Tribute to Our Dad

The man in the picture, Don Tuttle, is our dad. He is the one who made sure that early in my life I knew the importance of following & belonging to Jesus. He was a man of few words, but his example of integrity, compassion, & most importantly his faith in God are the treasures he offered to us throughout his life.
As a child he would take me with him very early on cold Sunday mornings to get into a cold church bus which he would drive to pick up other children so they could hear about Jesus like me. He let me go with him to help look over the building jobs he oversaw. He “let” me shovel the snow at my childhood home. He bought bushels of tomatoes so I could walk the east side neighborhood & make money reselling them. Dad taught me the most important things in my life without having to say many words! I wish I was as good at teaching that way as he was!
Dad loved our mom, he loved and trusted Jesus, He provided a love & security to me that has never left me & something I hope I have been able to pass on & will leave behind when I leave this temporary home in this old body.
Dad left Sunday morning September 23rd at 1:30 am to enter into the presence of Jesus, not because he was a “good man”, but because Jesus long ago showed His love for our dad. He took on flesh like dad’s, He took our dad’s sin record as if it were his own, & he died in dad’s place in order to satisfy the wrath of a perfectly holy God toward sin. Romans 5 verse 8 says this clearly. Because our dad believed what Ephesians 2: 8 & 9 says, he excepted God’s gift of faith & he passed that truth on to us. Because of the truth of the cross & the resurrection of Jesus, we miss our dad, but we do not grieve as those who have no hope.
Don Tuttle was the best dad he could be to us & he was a blessing God gave to us that we did not deserve.
Thank you Dad, and thank you God!
        Tim, Teri, & John Tuttle
                   His children

I want to express my sympathies to the Tuttle family. I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope that you find comfort in knowing that one day you’ll have the hope of seeing your loved ones again. Acts 24:15 says that “there is going to be a resurrection.” What this can mean for you is a real hope of being reunited with your dear loved ones. During difficult times like this, we need comfort, and Almighty God is the source of that comfort. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) May you find strength in knowing that death is not the end, but that there is a beautiful hope of seeing our loved ones again at a time when “death will be no more.” (Revelation 21:4)

A wonderful tribute, Tuttle children!! Your dad worked tirelessly to find us a home when we left OK to teach at Heritage!! I believe he and your mom were among the first to invite us to their home church at the time…Burge Terrace Baptist…where we grew under Pastor Felber’s teaching. We have so many happy memories of our years in Indianapolis, and your dad found us a great home for our little family!!

I remember after a tornado hit our home, Mr Tuttle made sure a electrician friend of his came and helped us right away. He was a very kind and thoughtful man.
