
James (Jim) C. Montgomery
87, of Indianapolis, was called home by the Lord on July 21, 2017.
Jim was born October 28, 1929 in Providence, KY to the late George and Rae Montgomery. His brother, Conrad, and sister, Georgianna, preceded him in passing.
Following high school, he worked for a while in Evansville, IN where he met Mary Helen, his sweetheart and wife. They had a son, Michael.
Employment took them to Indianapolis, IN. Jim studied accounting at IU – Indianapolis and worked for Indiana Farm Bureau Cooperative/Countrymark Cooperative for over 38 years. He retired in 1992.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Mary; son Michael (Jeannine); grandsons Chris (Chrissy), Brendan (Jennifer) and Logan (Nilaja); great-granddaughters Pamela and Autumn; great-grandson Justice; sister Betty Jo; brother-in-law Paul; and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was a member of Northside Baptist Church for over 27 years, becoming a Deacon and serving on several committees. He was a member of Brookside Masonic Lodge #720 for over 50 years, and the Scottish Rite and Murat Shrine for over 40 years.
Jim and his wife loved to be with their family and often travelled to wherever they lived to be with them. They also enjoyed travelling and attending sporting events, especially UK, IU, and Colts games. They participated in many sporting events. Jim was an avid Bridge player, and pursued low golf scores with close friends of many years.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM, Friday, July 28th at Northside Baptist Church, 3021 E. 71st Street, Indianapolis, IN. The family will greet friends from 1:00 until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Princeton, KY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northside Baptist Church.
