Jerry Tyring, 84, went home to be with the Lord, his loving wife Margie of 60 years, and daughter Belinda, on July 17, 2017 at Clearwater Commons Assisted Living.
He was born August 25, 1932, in Spurgeon, Indiana, the son of Virgil and Aileene (Thurman) Tyring. He grew up in Oakland City, Indiana. He was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force, stationed in Alaska and Germany, where he was an air traffic controller. After serving 10 years, he continued to be employed as an airport air traffic controller after his honorable discharge. Jerry married Margie Fenn in 1952. He enjoyed motorcycle racing and participated in Motocross. He also worked for Frieden repairing printing presses and calculators in the 1960’s, then served as a police officer, both in Muncie. Police work was his all-time favorite job.
Later in life, he became an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was responsible for compiling, writing, and printing the bulletins for his church every Sunday.
Jerry is survived by three children; Angela (Rob) Garner, with their daughter Kaelyn Garner; Sandra (Thomas) Faught, with their daughters, Heather (Brandon) Utterback and Lindsey (Bryan) Albrecht; Joe (Sherry) Tyring, and their children, Joey (Savannah) Tyring, Hannah (Luke) Bussey, and Nathaniel Tyring; grandchildren from his daughter Belinda, Joanna Frandsen and Dustin Tyring; great-grandchildren, Isla and Yasmine Utterback, Snow Albrecht, Noah James Tyring, Kade Tyring; siblings, Gene (Helen) Tyring, Peggy (Willie) Shafer, Carol (Bob) Brown, Jane (Jack) Tichener, and Becky (Jon) Bundy; numerous nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Bennie Callis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie in 2012; daughter, Belinda Lee Frandsen, who passed at 46; and his parents.
Jerry loved his family and always put them first in his life. He was always there for them when they needed him and loved his children no matter what. He was patient with any faults and shortcomings and gave them unconditional and compassionate love in their times of need. He was a responsible and hard-working man.
Friends and family may visit from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2017, at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, Indiana. My deepest condolences to the Tyring family. Even though I didn’t have the pleasure of knowing Mr. Jerry Tyring, I understand that losing a loved one is heartbreaking. A pain that even our Lord Jesus Christ suffered when his friend Lazarus died (John 11:33) But he also gave us hope for the future found in John 5:28, 29 – ” Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life.” May the hope of once again seeing our loved ones give you the strength that you need during these difficult situation. My sympathy to the family of Jerry Tyring. Jerry was my Brother-in-Law married to my wife’s sister. Jerry and I go back a long ways to the 1950’s. We both served in the military, he in the USAF and I in the US Army. We had many enjoyable visits over the years, both in the United States and in Europe where we were stationed at the same time on one occasion. Jerry’s wife, Margie, was a sister to my wife, Norma, and to Helen Fenn Wilson; all are now deceased and greatly missed. Rest in Peace Jerry.

Tomorrow Mark’s the anniversary of my Grandfathers passing. This is actually the first time I have read any and all of the condolences and I’m moved to the point of tears. There are no words I can speak nor write to describe just how moving it truly is. While my grandfather is gazing now upon us, I know that he is not alone. My heart and soul tell me he is truly reunited with the rest of our family, and as they all watch over us until our final days, where we too shall all be together again; may he always be remembered and the time he spent here on earth celebrated.

Grandpa, I am so honored that I got to be with you and see you in your last days here on earth. I love you so much and miss you everyday. You have been and always will be a special part of my soul as you have always looked out for me. I know that even though your are with our loved ones up in heaven, this hasn’t changed. Till we meet again.
