John H. Gudgel, 98, passed away on January 20, 2019.

He was born June 17, 1920 in Louisville, KY where he lived most of his life. He was the son of John Harvey and Martha (Dunigan) Gudgel. He served in WWII in the Army Air Corp as an intelligence officer in England. John was married to Thelma (Welsh) Gudgel in 1959.  During his years in Louisville he worked in the dairy business, sold real estate, and sold insurance. He later retired to Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife; sister, Hattie Taccarino; and four brothers, Clay, Robert, Boyd, and Louis. Health issues brought John to Indianapolis in 2003 where he lived at Rittenhouse Sr. Living under the care of his nephew Bob Gudgel and wife Cheri. John was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church. He is survived by an abundance of nieces and nephews, some great and great-great, who kept him forever young. A memorial service will be held at Florida National Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Indiana Funeral Care.
