We celebrate Steven John Green of Fishers, Indiana, who on February 10, 2019, lost his battle to cancer but who had won so much more.

Born October 10, 1961, in South Bend, Indiana to Lawrence Sr. and Donna (Farell) Green. Steve was the youngest of four children, including Gloria Green, Lawrence Jr. Green (Marie), and Janice Joseph (Rick)—the latter two surviving him. From an early age, Steve was instilled with the values of selflessness, loyalty, consistency, and resourcefulness which he exhibited all his life, and would make him a valued employee throughout his long career as an electrical designer.

In 1989 Steve married his wife Linda (Taylor), and the couple would raise four children; Bryant, Amanda, Lucas, and Alex Green. For nearly thirty years Steve faithfully demonstrated how to love his wife as he was loved by his Creator. Likewise, Steve consistently strived to show his children how to love and serve others joyfully.

Steve generously gave to his children, encouraging them to pursue their hobbies, especially their athletics. He tirelessly spent his evenings and weekends at ball fields supporting and playing with them. Steve was always happiest when he had the opportunity to spend time with his family, reminding them often that, while they had been incredibly blessed, their worth was found in Jesus Christ alone. Steve is survived by Linda and his four children.

Steve loved the Lord, his family, and baseball— in that order. Not one to lecture, Steve was steadfast in demonstrating the values that defined him in a manner that influenced so many: including his family, friends, coworkers, congregants, and even strangers. Even up to his final days, Steve never complained about his situation. Instead he embraced the opportunity to show how his faith in Jesus Christ gave hope and joy in any circumstance. He will be sorely missed.

On Saturday, February 16, 2019, family and friends are invited to gather at Cornerstone Lutheran Church in Carmel, Indiana to celebrate, not only a man with so many admirable characteristics, but the Truth that made him so admirable and gives us hope. The funeral visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with a funeral service following at noon. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Journey Lutheran Ministries, 10401 E 116th Street Fishers, Indiana 46037.

Oh Steve. How can I ever thank you enough for being the best husband and partner to my sister. I held so much respect for you. I am so, so sad about loosing you this early. I am grateful for the family that you built and “I”as a member of it get to enjoy. You helped raise and guide 4 beautiful children (who have already contributed to society greatly) to carry on your great legacy. I am happy that you are now by the lakeside, but you will be greatly, greatly missed. Forever in our 💕

Praying for Linda and the children. He was a good man. I know Larry is also broken-hearted. He loved his little brother.

I worked with Steve for a number of years and was impressed with his patience and selflessness. He was always willing to help whoever and wherever he could. I have followed his struggle with his illness and am greatly impressed with his attitude and continued faith. He will be greatly missed but remembered by all he touched.
