Toby Wright was born on August 2, 1935 to Joe F. Wright and Dora Allen Wright.  He was educated in Indianapolis Public School 4 and attended Crispus Attucks High School.  Toby moved to Detroit in the early Seventies and was employed by Sears & Roebuck for over 20 years.  Toby married Ann Taylor who preceded him in death.  Upon his return to Indianapolis, he reunited with Tabernacle Church where he was a member of the “Male Chorus” and Sunday School Class.  Toby was somewhat of a health-buff.  He ran daily and eventually walked every day for many years until his health failed.  He also loved & traveled with his portable Chess Set and challenged some of the best players around.  Toby enjoyed listening to music, especially jazz & gospel.  He could also cook a “mean pot of mixed greens”.  On Sunday, September 8^th, Toby was called home by Our Lord.  He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Julie McFarland, his grandchildren, Derek McFarland, “Little” Glen Wright, Shante Wright, his great-grandchildren, Omarion McFarland, D’ereka McFarland and Serenitii McFarland, his siblings,  Stella M. Moore, Curtis Wright and Betty Bellemy and a host of other nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Tabernacle Church, 3101 E. 30^th Street, Indianapolis, IN  on Friday, September 20, 2019 at 12 p.m.  Visitation prior to service from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Interment at Lincoln Memory Gardens,  6851 S. Indianapolis Road,  Whitestown, IN.
